Ordinary Semi-Adhesive Cellulose Air Filter Paper

High-quality ordinary semi-adhesive cellulose air filter paper rolls engineered for automotive and engine air intake systems. Impregnated with 16%-20% semi-cured (B-stage) phenolic resin, it offers excellent pleating stiffness and structural stability. This raw media requires thermal curing after pleating—perfectly processed using our Automatic Zig-Zag Rotary Air Filter Paper Pleating Machine.

This industrial Ordinary Semi-Adhesive Cellulose Air Filter Paper (also widely referred to as semi-cured or B-stage resin filter paper) is manufactured from premium wood pulp fibers and impregnated with semi-cured phenolic resin. It serves as the primary filtration media used globally for light-to-medium-duty automotive engine air filters, passenger cabin HVAC filters, and small agricultural machinery filter assemblies.

The raw wood pulp paper fibers are pre-treated and partially cured during paper mill processing, keeping the paper rolls flexible and non-sticky for easy handling. After being folded into pleated packs on automatic machinery, a simple post-heat curing process fully cross-links the resin, delivering outstanding mechanical stiffness, high-temperature durability, and water resistance to the final filter element.

Key Features & Performance Advantages

1. Superior Pleating Stiffness & Workability

Impregnated with 16%-20% B-stage phenolic resin, the paper roll remains dry and smooth during storage. It exhibits excellent tensile strength and pleat stiffness when fed through high-speed rotary or CNC knife pleating equipment, ensuring clean, sharp folds without fiber tearing.

2. Deep-Bed Particle Loading & High Efficiency

The premium cellulose fiber matrix features a progressive pore structure. This allows dust particles of various sizes to be trapped throughout the entire thickness of the paper, maximizing the dust-holding capacity and extending the air filter’s service life.

3. Uniform Corrugation Depth

The paper is manufactured with precise, consistent corrugation (0.18 – 0.25 mm). These embossed channels prevent the pleated paper walls from sticking together or collapsing under strong engine intake suction, maintaining a consistent effective filtration area.

4. Simple Heat-Activation Curing

After the pleating process is completed, passing the pleated filter core through a curing oven at 140°C-150°C fully solidifies the phenolic resin. This chemical cross-linking gives the cellulose fibers high burst strength, fuel/oil resistance, and structural stability.

Applications & Industrial Uses

This wood pulp filter paper roll is the standard material used in manufacturing:

  • Automotive Engine Air Filters: Pleated panel and cylindrical intake filters for passenger cars, SUVs, and light trucks.
  • Small Engine Filters: Air filters for lawn mowers, backup generators, and compact agricultural garden tractors.
  • Cabin HVAC Filters: Multi-layered pleated particulate filters for automotive climate control systems.

Why Partner with Fupei?

  • Machine-Tested Media Compatibility: As a professional filter machinery manufacturer, we test every batch of our raw filter paper directly on our own Automatic Zig-Zag Rotary Air Filter Paper Pleating Machine and Precision CNC Knife Pleating Machine to guarantee zero paper jamming or tearing.
  • Strict Permeability Consistency: We conduct rigorous quality inspections on roll thickness, pore size, and basis weight to prevent downstream pressure drop variations in your finished filters.
  • Moisture-Proof Export Packaging: Every roll is wrapped with a heavy-duty PE plastic moisture barrier and packed in robust, export-grade cartons to ensure the semi-cured resin does not absorb moisture or pre-cure during sea transit.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: “Semi-adhesive” (semi-cured) means the phenolic resin within the wood pulp fibers is only partially cured (B-stage) during manufacturing. The paper remains flexible and dry for easy pleating. After folding, the pleated pack must be heated in a curing oven to fully solidify the resin, achieving high stiffness and moisture resistance.

A: No, but for high-speed continuous production, it is highly recommended to use our Automatic Zig-Zag Rotary Air Filter Paper Pleating Machine or our Precision CNC Knife Pleating Machine. These machines can handle the pre-heating and precise folding of cellulose paper without breaking the fibers.

A: Under-curing (temperature too low or time too short) will leave the resin soft, resulting in pleat collapse when exposed to moisture or engine intake suction. Over-curing (temperature too high) will make the paper extremely brittle, causing it to crack or tear under pressure. Following our recommended curing parameters (140°C – 150°C for 10-15 minutes) is essential.
